Mindfulness

1069227899The past and future make you miss the present.

Do you ever want to escape your current life? Are you continually thinking about how things will improve “when…?”

Or maybe you spend a lot of time thinking about past events, hashing over them, trying to figure out what you could’ve done differently or better while wishing you could change them.

Most people spend a significant part of their mental focus on the past or future and often miss out on the fantastic things they experience in the present moment.

If you’d like to stop being absent from your present life, I invite you to learn more about Mindfulness.

Learn to live in the present.

Mindfulness is an ancient practice that allows us to be aware in the present moment of our thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations in a gentle, nonjudgmental way.

Jon Kabat-Zinn, the founder of the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, describes Mindfulness as the “presence of heart.” Thousands of studies have documented the physical and mental health benefits of Mindfulness.

According to the Greater Good Science Center, “Mindfulness affects the way we see ourselves: More mindful people have a stronger sense of self and seem to act more in line with their values. They may also have a healthier body imagemore secure self-esteem, and more resilience to negative feedback.”

Through the practice of Mindfulness, women of all ages report being more focused, less worried, and report being able to think before responding, thereby helping them make better decisions and be less reactive.

Mindfulness is beneficial when developing a healthier relationship with food and improving body image because it allows us to accept where we are and appreciate our current strengths.

It would be my great pleasure to share the life-changing benefits of Mindfulness in our therapy work together.
